Here's what I don't get:Įveryone says don't enable autofill.

I read several of the recently published articles on the security issue, and several of the posts here. Just as an aside, I generally do the two clicks rather than the ctrl-shift-L, but I think they're synonymous? :-) I'm not a security expert but security was a significant part of my work (database, large, multi-user systems, etc.) My background is retired software dev and support engineer from '77 through 2018. I've just been doing a couple of extra clicks and not worrying about it. It just seems strange that Bitwarden can fill the fields with a couple of clicks (or, presumably, a Ctrl shift l), but autofill won't do it. I've read the pages on creating fields to help (but I don't understand that yet). Maybe page load event triggers before things are ready sometimes? That is pure speculation. Possibly relevant: I've seen what appears to be a timing issue at times on where the page load seems to sometimes take longer and autofill on load fails (but it works at least 95 pct of the time. It's not clear why it wouldn't do it on page load.

But if I click on the bitwarden extension shield and then on the credit union's entry, it autofills. The bitwarden extension has the little 1 overlay. I'm logged in to bitwarden and the vault is unlocked. Generally using chrome with the bitwarden extension.
